Winner of more than 50 Game of the Year awards, Hades is rogue-like hack-and-slash dungeon crawler, now available for the first time on PlayStation.
Wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.
Aided by his extended family - that just so happen to include Zeus, Athena and other gods of Olympus - Zagreus's efforts are boosted with temporary buffs (known as Boons) that can be selected to suit your playstyle, and permanent upgrades that can be obtained during each play-through.
Hades combines the best aspects of Supergiant's critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you'll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.
Permanent upgrades mean you don't have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you do happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what's really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.
There's no denying there's a learning curve to Hades - but this is part of the fun. If you're having trouble with a particular boss or want to focus on the story, God Mode is available to help blast through enemies in no time. Looking for more of a challenge? Hell Mode dials up the difficulty - but be warned, it's not for everyone!
Hades is a single-player game with no plans to add multiplayer. The gameplay and narrative of Hades was created with a solo experience in mind.
The 'best' upgrade depends entirely on your playstyle. Early on in the game it may be wise to prioritise your Darkness spending on health upgrades to help you progress further through the Underworld. Keep a special eye out for the Death Defiance upgrade in the Mirror of Night though - it may just give you the extra edge you need to make it to the next chamber!
Roguelikes, or Rogue-lites, consist of procedurally generated levels that change on every playthrough. With weapon, item and enemy placements changing with each restart, no two runs are the same. Dying is often a key mechanic and is crucial for progression. For more information, see our guide to the best Roguelikes on PS4 and PS5.
You'll meet 30 different fully-voiced characters, and experience the story through thousands of unique events and interactions. You can engage with the narrative as much as you like, so if you just want to dive in for a quick hack-and-slash session, Hades has you covered. You'll inhabit a living world with characters you'll really get to know, and who remember you time after time.
