Flex Modes

Sony Interactive Entertainment offers a global hybrid office/remote working model — Flex Modes — which aims to combine the flexibility of remote working with the magic of in-person collaboration. The model is built upon the principle of working together in-person as work requires, with the freedom to work remotely otherwise.

Our ambition is that Flex Modes addresses both the needs of the individual and the needs of the business, while strengthening our collaboration, connections and culture.

Our departments also support various charity partners and community groups at different points in the calendar year, including:

Diversity and employee groups

Diversity

We're proud to celebrate diversity at PlayStation. Our Employee Resource groups, including Women@PlayStation, REPRESENT@PlayStation, Wellbeing@PlayStation, and our award-winning LGBTQ+ group, Pride@PlayStation, actively promote inclusion in the workplace and beyond.

Pride@PlayStation

Pride@PlayStation, our LGBT+ Employee Resource Group, has gone from strength to strength since it was established in 2016. The group, which is part of our internal Diversity Network, aims to champion LGBT+ rights and inclusivity both within PlayStation and externally.

Internally, Pride@PlayStation organises regular events, forums, and socials for our LGBT+ employees and allies. Our members also consult with various departments to make sure our company policies and procedures are as LGBT+-friendly as possible.

The group plays an active role in the wider community, too.

Pride@Playstation partners with Sink the Pink each year for Pride in London, has worked with Out In Tech to host a cross-gaming industry panel about representation in gaming and collaborated with our PlayStation Gear store to sell PlayStation Pride merchandise to consumers, with all proceeds going to LGBT+ homeless youth charity AKT.

In 2019 Pride@PlayStation was shortlisted in the British LGBT Awards as a Top 10 Employee Network. The group also won Pride in London’s Best Float award in 2018 for “best celebrating LGBTQ+ life, fights for equality, challenges prejudice and had the most creative, interactive and fun float on parade day”.

Pride@PlayStation are proud to stand up and show that PlayStation is #ForALLthePlayers.

Women@PlayStation

Women@PlayStation is an inclusive Employee Resource Group that focuses on the positive progress that benefits everyone, no matter their gender or gender identity.

Internally, the group organises events and forums to help support employees and educate the wider business on industry-wide issues. They have also been instrumental in advising on company policy and other diversity initiatives.

Women@PlayStation also plays a role in the wider community, actively tackling the gender imbalance in the technology industry by running PlayStation boot camps for 11-14-year-old girls. The Boot Camps, which run in partnership with InnovateHER, aim to inspire young girls to pursue a career in the gaming industry. This year, the initiative expanded even further nationally, with boot camps taking place in London, Liverpool and Guildford.

REPRESENT@PlayStation

Our REPRESENT@PlayStation employee group aims to encourage race and ethnic diversity both at SIE and within the wider games industry.

Alongside running employee events and campaigns that champion race and ethnic diversity and inclusion, the group also provides a space for employees to discuss racial equity and social justice, and acts as a collective voice to effect change.

REPRESENT@PlayStation also partners with various SIE departments on external initiatives that support and promote creativity projects from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds in the gaming industry and beyond.

Wellbeing@PlayStation

Our Wellbeing@PlayStation employee group aims to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and wellbeing, raise awareness of the mental health support services available to our employees, and promote wellbeing diversity initiatives through collaborations with our other employee groups.

Internally, the group creates spaces for employees to share their experiences of mental health issues, hosts wellbeing events including mindfulness and meditation, and brings in guest speakers and professionals to share insights on wellbeing topics.

Wellbeing@PlayStation put diversity and inclusiveness at the heart of what they do and believe that everyone should have access to the help they need, when they need it.
