Find out how to sign up for the beta programme, and how to install the PS5 system software beta.
The beta programme gives you early access to new PS5 console features. By signing up, you could be among the first to put new features to the test and provide essential feedback that will help guide their development.
Registration is open to players over the age of 18 in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany and France. In order to sign up, you'll need a PS5 console with an Internet connection and an account for PlayStation™Network.
Please note, only eligible adult accounts approved for the beta programme can update their system software to the beta version. Guest users, child accounts and offline users are not able to update to the system software beta.
Always back up your data before using a beta version of the system software. Make sure you have at least 1GB of free PS5 console storage space when you back up and restore. It is also recommended that the backup file is less than 200GB.
If a new version of the beta is released and your console has auto-updates enabled, it will update automatically. To manually update the system software beta to the latest version, follow the steps above. If a new version is available, you'll see Update available next to Update System Software (beta).
Select the beta information you are looking for from the list below.
Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Stop Using Beta Version.
Once the beta programme has ended, you'll need to update your system software to the official system software version. If your console has auto-updates enabled, it will update automatically.
Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software.
