How to change your PS VR2 play area on PC

Find out how to change your play area when using PlayStation®VR2 on your Windows® PC and what the play area types are.

How to change your PS VR2 play area on PC

  1. Press the PS button on your PlayStation VR2 Sense™ controller to open the SteamVR™ dashboard, and then select the PS VR2 icon.
  2. Select Go to Play Area Setup for PS VR2 > Play Area.
  3. Select the type of play area you want to use.
    Follow the on-screen instructions to change or edit the play area.
  • If you leave your play area, your screen doesn't automatically show you your surroundings. Either return to your play area or press the function button on your VR headset to activate the see-through view. 
  • If your game doesn't proceed as expected after resetting the play area, try clearing the play area data. To do this, in step 2, select Clear Play Area Data.

What are the play area types?

There are two types of play areas to enjoy your VR games:

Custom
Create your own play area. This requires a play area that's 1 m by 1 m (3 ft 4 in. by 3 ft 4 in.) or larger. Use your controller to draw the boundary lines of your play area.

Quick
Play on the spot. Choose this play area type if you can't set a play area size required by Custom. Just make sure you have room to move your PS VR2 Sense controller freely.

How to adjust floor height for PS VR2 on PC

To ensure you can enjoy your VR games smoothly, make sure the play area floor height appears level with your room's floor.

  1. Press the PS button on your PS VR2 Sense controller to open the SteamVR™ dashboard, and then select the PS VR2 icon.
  2. Select Go to Play Area Setup for PS VR2 > Floor height.
    Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the floor height.
