Recommended network setup for PS Portal

You can enjoy Remote Play on PS Portal if you have a stable high-speed Wi-Fi connection.

For the best Remote Play experience on your PS Portal, try following the recommended settings below:

  • Connect your PS5 console to the internet using a wired connection.
  • Connect your PS5 console and PS Portal to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Use a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection to connect your PS Portal to the internet.
  • Some Wi-Fi routers have a band steering function that allows them to automatically switch between a 2.4GHz connection and a 5GHz connection. If possible, disable this feature when connecting your PS Portal to your Wi-Fi router.
  • For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended*.

*If you’re using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.

On the home screen of your PS Portal, tap the portal or press the cross button. Your PS Portal connects with the PS5 console you used previously, and Remote Play starts.

To use a different PS5 console for Remote Play, take the following steps. If you’re currently using Remote Play, you’ll need to quit first.

  1. From the home screen, open the quick menu, and then select the PS5 icon.
The name of the PS5 console you used last time displays underneath the icon.
  2. Select the PS5 console you want to use for Remote Play.
If you don’t see the console that you want, it may not be ready for Remote Play.
