How to change privacy settings on PSN

Learn how to control who can communicate with you or see your activity on PlayStation™Network (PSN).

How to set privacy settings online

  1. Go to Account Management on a connected device.
  2. Select Privacy settings.
  3. Select a feature you would like to change privacy settings for and Edit.
  4. Choose who you want to allow from the drop-down menu and select Confirm.
  1. Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Privacy.
  2. Select View and Customise Your Privacy Settings.
  3. Select a preset privacy setting level or select a feature to change privacy settings.

  1. Go to Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings and enter your password.

  2. Select the feature you would like to change privacy settings for.

How to set privacy settings for children

If you are a parent or guardian, you can choose to set privacy settings for your child. You can also select which settings you want to allow your child to change. When your child changes a setting, the parents/guardians receive a notification.

What are the PSN privacy settings?

Privacy settings are tied to your account. If you change the privacy settings for your account, those changes will be reflected on all devices.

You can limit how visible you are to other users on PlayStation Network using privacy settings. You can customize the following features:

  • Gaming | Media
    Choose who can see your shared media and recent activities.

  • Friends | Connections
    Control who can send you Friend requests, follow your account and see your connections.

  • Personal Info | Messaging
    Choose who can see your real name and communicate with you.

What are the preset privacy settings on PS5 consoles

Adult players can choose from four preset profiles.

  1. Social and Open 
    You’re open to all requests and messages. Any player can see your profile information.
  2. Team Player
    Any player can see most of your profile information, but they need to at least be friends of friends to invite you to chat.
  3. Friend Focused
    Only your friends can see your information and invite you to chat.
  4. Solo and Focused
    No player can see your profile information or invite you to chat, even if you’ve added them as a friend.

Children can select a privacy profile when creating an account with their family manager but aren't able to choose from these privacy profiles after creating an account.
