If the indicator light on the processor unit is flashing red, the fan is making a loud noise or you see a message related to overheating on screen, the processor unit may be in danger of overheating. You can take a few simple steps to minimise the risk of overheating.
Place the processor unit in a well-ventilated area.
Carefully use a dry cloth and occasionally a vacuum to keep the processor unit free from dust. The microfibre cloth supplied with the PS VR is for cleaning the headset lenses—don't use it to clean the processor unit.
Make sure there is enough slack in the cable between the VR headset and the processor unit.
Place the unit as far away as possible from other devices.
Don't leave the VR headset in direct sunlight as this may damage the lenses.
Don't disconnect the VR headset from the processor unit if the tracking lights are on. Turn off the headset first using the inline remote power button.
Don't hold the VR headset by the scope (the section that goes over your eyes) or the cable.
Don't use a damp cloth or any type of cleaning liquid to clean the VR headset. A damp cloth can be used to help clean the rubber light guard.
Don't stand on the VR headset connector cable.
Don't place your PS VR on top of your console as this increases the chance of it overheating.
Don't block the processor unit fan.
Don't place the processor unit in a closed cabinet.
Don't place the processor unit in direct sunlight.
