When your controller has enough battery life, you can disconnect the USB cable and use your controller wirelessly.
Please note, your controller can pair with only one console at a time. When you want to use your controller on another console, you need to pair it with that console.
You can connect up to four controllers to one console.

How to charge your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller
When it's time to charge, connect your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller to your PS4® console using the included USB cable. The controller's battery can be charged while your console is either on or in rest mode.
To check the battery level of the controller, press and hold the PS button to display the Quick Menu. The battery icon will blink while the controller is charging.
It takes about 2 hours to charge the controller when the battery has no remaining charge.
To keep your controller working properly, make sure to charge it at least once a year.
Battery life varies depending on how you use the controller and the environment in which the controller is used and stored.
If your controller doesn't charge properly, please try resetting your controller.
If Output to Headphones is grayed out, the headphones aren't detected by the controller.
If your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller isn’t vibrating as expected, the controller's vibration function may be turned off. To turn it back on, select Settings > Devices > Controllers and check the Enable Vibration checkbox.
If you have headphones plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller and you hear no audio, or the audio from the headphones is very faint, make sure the headphone plug is pushed all the way in.
