Screen Reader
The PS5 console's Screen Reader can read aloud the text on screen and provide spoken guidance for operating the console.
- Screen reader is enabled automatically if the user waits for 10 seconds on the initial setup screen.
- Screen reading and guidance prompts are available in United States English, United Kingdom English, Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, Canadian French, Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Korean.
- Pause or resume the screen reader by pressing the PS button and TRIANGLE button at the same time. To ask the screen reader to repeat anything it reads, press the PS button and R1 button at the same time.
Closed captions
Closed captions help you follow along with what is spoken on screen in videos, providing text for dialogue and audio cues.
Controls
Customise your DualSense wireless controller experience by configuring the button assignments, vibration intensity and adaptive trigger effect intensity.
Gameplay
During gameplay, chat transcription converts the voice chat of other players to text while reading aloud the text you enter to other players.
Closed captions features can be customised by configuring the following:
- Font size, colour, edges and opacity
- Background colour and opacity, window colour and opacity
- Custom Button Assignment: Change the function of your DualSense controller's buttons, so the most important actions are in easy reach.
- Vibration Intensity Settings: Turn off the Vibration intensity of the DualSense Wireless Controller or change to Weak, Medium or Strong (Standard).
- Trigger Effect Intensity Settings: Turn off the Trigger Effect intensity of the DualSense Wireless Controller or change to Weak, Medium or Strong (standard).

Adaptive trigger intensity
- Disable adaptive triggers for player weapons: Choose whether to enable or disable the trigger effect function for weapons. Disabling this function reduces resistance frequency and hand fatigue.

- Normal: A difficulty level that balances the journey with a challenging combat experience.

- Very Hard: A tough combat experience for those who really want a challenge.
- Custom difficulty allows the player to adjust damage levels that Aloy does and receives to/from enemies, giving more flexibility for the player to adjust the game difficulty as they please. Additionally, there is also a setting here to turn on/off the easy loot system which is the default for the Easy and Story difficulty modes. Turning the Easy Loot option ON means that any external resource components that are still attached when a machine is killed are added to its loot inventory. This lessens the need to detach those components during combat.

Combat and stealth assists
- Weapon Wheel Slowdown: Adjust how much time slows down when the Weapon Wheel is activated. The Weapon Wheel allows you to equip a weapon quickly in game.
- Options to increase Concentration duration: Adjust how long Concentration mode lasts. Concentration mode temporarily slows down time to allow more time to aim.
- Auto concentration: Choose whether Concentration automatically activates to slow down time while aiming, if available.
- Auto heal On/Off: Choose whether you automatically consume Medicinal Berries from your Medicine Pouch when below 50% Health. This option will also fully heal you a short time after combat.
- Aim assist (Default/Strong/Off): Select the level of aim assistance that influences the trajectory of a projectile to hit a target better.

- Auto Shieldwing: Choose whether you automatically deploy your Shieldwing when falling. Available after the Shieldwing is unlocked.

Audio cues
- Focus mode plays positional heartbeat sounds from nearby enemies. These sounds also change if the enemy is aware of the player (matching haptics on PS5).
- Enemies yell a single cue ("Dosho" in Mongolian, "Down!" in all localised languages) before they shoot arrows or throw knives at the player
- Mix changes help inform when a player is injured (filtered sfx and music) and when they heal back (filters are removed)

- Haptic cues in combat for blocks, swings, sword binds, and taking damage
- All bow sounds (especially pulling the bow back, firing, and getting a headshot) have 1:1 haptics matching audio and visual so visually impaired people can have a better sense of bow behaviour when aiming
- Hero downed state features haptics to help communicate to the player. Healing provides an alternate haptic which also stops the downed haptic.
- Explosions contain positional haptics so you can tell the direction and how far away they happen
- Haptics on locomotion (player running/horse galloping) to help convey where the player is and what surface(s) they're moving across
- On Iki Island, positional haptics get faster and more intense as the player approaches systemic hallucination sites
- All UI elements have haptic components to help clarify to the player when/how menus have been navigated
- All door opening animations from shoji doors to large gates have haptic components matching animation to make it clear when doors are opening and when the animations have completed.
- In Legends mode, when the player strikes a healing drum or uses a healing power, it emanates a haptic tone positionally so players are aware of the radius of healing.
- All cinematics have been scored with haptics to help communicate to visually impaired players the actions occurring in each scene
