Save and transfer PlayStation Plus game progress

Find out how to save games when streaming PlayStation®Plus games on PlayStation®5 consoles, PlayStation®4 consoles, and how to transfer saves between streamed and downloaded games.

How do PlayStation Plus saves work?

PlayStation Plus saved data works differently depending on whether you are streaming or playing a downloaded game.

  • If you're streaming a PlayStation Plus game, the saved data is stored on PlayStation Network.
    You can pick up your stream on another device and continue your game without taking any other steps.
  • If you're playing a downloaded PlayStation Plus game, the saved data is saved to the console storage of your PS5™ console or PS4™ console. 
     
Saved data is not automatically transferred between streamed and downloaded games, but you can transfer saved data using Playstation Plus online storage. To transfer saved data between game types, first, upload the saved data to cloud/online storage and then download it to your device.

Upload PlayStation Plus saved data to online storage

First, upload your saved data to PlayStation Plus online storage:

Streamed PlayStation Plus game

  1. While streaming a game, press the PS button and select the PlayStation Plus card from the control centre.
  2. Select Manage Saved Data.
    Follow the on-screen instructions to copy your saved data to cloud storage.
  1. Start streaming the game and press the PS button.
  2. Select Application Saved Data Management.
  3. Select Saved Data in Game Streaming Storage > Copy to Online Storage.

Downloaded PlayStation Plus game

  1. Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings. 
  2. Select Saved Data (PS4). 
  3. Select Upload or Delete from Console Storage, and then select the Upload to Cloud Storage tab.
  4. Select the saved data you want to upload and then select Upload.
  1. Go to Library, highlight the game, and press the OPTIONS button.
  2. Select Upload/Download Saved Data. 
  3. Highlight the saved data and select Upload.

Download saved data from online storage

Once the saved data is in online storage, download it from online storage on another device to carry on playing:

Streamed PlayStation Plus game

  1. While playing the game, select the PlayStation Plus card from the control centre.
  2. Select Manage Saved Data.
    Follow the on-screen instructions to copy your saved data.

  1. Start streaming the game and press the PS button.

  2. Select Application Saved Data Management. 

  3. Select Saved Data in Online Storage > Copy to Game Streaming Storage.

Downloaded PlayStation Plus game

  1. Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  2. Select Saved Data (PS4). 
  3. Select Download or Delete from Cloud Storage, and then go to the Download to console storage tab.
  4. Select the saved data you want to download and then select Download.
  1. Highlight the game in Library and press the OPTIONS button 
  2. Select Upload/Download Saved Data. 
  3. Highlight the saved data and select Download.
