PS VR2: Safety for players

Learn how you and family members over the age of 12 can safely use PlayStation®VR2.

What is VR? 

Virtual reality allows you to immerse yourself in 3D virtual spaces that go beyond reality. PS VR2 allows you to meet others in a virtual space as you discover new gaming experiences.

  • Please note, PlayStation®VR2 is not for children under age 12.

What's different about VR gaming? 

When playing on your VR system, you can interact with your environment and other players in new and different ways.

Family and safety on PS VR2

When setting up your PS VR2, read through all relevant safety guides and warnings and carefully consider whether your younger family member is ready for VR.

Parental controls and PS VR2

A safer online VR experience begins with child and family manager accounts, and parental controls — a set of easy, accessible tools designed to create a level of safety and supervision that's right for you and your family.

When you create an account for your child, they’re automatically added to your family, making you the family manager.

Make sure to adjust the privacy settings of younger players before using PlayStation™Network (PSN). You can also choose which settings you allow younger players to change themselves.

Speak with your child about how they interact with other players online. As the Family Manager, you can control how and when younger players interact with others over PSN.

Use age ratings and playtime settings to tailor younger players' gaming experiences, including use of PS VR2.

When using PS VR2, it’s important for younger players to understand how they should interact with others online.

Blocking and reporting other players on PSN are useful for preventing or addressing unwanted interactions and keeping your playing experience fun and enjoyable.

General safety and comfort with PS VR2

Before using your PS VR2, read the health and safety warnings in the VR headset manual to familiarise yourself with all instructions for setup and use. Always follow on-screen instructions and safety precautions while enjoying your VR experience.

Take regular breaks and manage your comfort while playing to ensure you’re avoiding strain and reducing the risk of injury.

Some VR games may require moving around and using a specific Play Area style. Make sure your Play Area is safe and appropriate for maximising your VR experience.

Configuring eye tracking (that uses eye movement) for each PS VR2 player can also help enhance the VR experience.
