What are the PS5 console USB port types?

PS5 consoles have four USB ports that support different connection speeds and are compatible with different devices. PS5 consoles have two ports on the front and two ports on the back.

Front USB ports

  • USB Type-C® port (Hi-Speed USB).
  • USB Type-C® port (SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps) *.

Back USB ports

  • 2 USB type-A, SuperSpeed USB (10Gbps).

* PS VR2 must be connected to this port.

Please note, the design of the console varies depending on the model. This example uses a console from the CFI-2000 model group.

Front USB ports

  • 1 USB type-A, Hi-Speed USB.
  • 1 USB type-C, SuperSpeed USB (10Gbps)*.

Back USB ports

  • 2 USB type-A, SuperSpeed USB (10Gbps).

* PS VR2 must be connected to this port.

Which USB ports on my PS5 console should I use?

Select a device to find out which USB ports on your PS5 console are compatible.

USB extended storage should be connected to a SuperSpeed USB port.

The controllers below are compatible with USB ports on your PS5 console. Connect using the USB cable included with your PS5 console or controller.

HD Camera or PlayStation®Camera (with a PlayStation®Camera adapter) should be connected to a SuperSpeed USB port.

You can connect your PS VR2 to the SuperSpeed USB-C port on the front of your PS5 console.

You can connect your PS VR to any USB port on your PS5 console. Connect using the USB cable included with PS VR.

You can connect your Wireless Headset adapter to any USB port on a PS5 console.

You can connect a PlayStation officially licensed specialty peripherals to a USB port on your PS5 console. Check with the manufacturer to determine which port to connect to.
