Frequently asked questions

I didn't get a disc with my Collector’s or Regalla Edition, is that correct? 
Yes, these editions include a download code that grants you access to the PlayStation®4 console and PlayStation®5 console versions of the game. If you start on a PS4® console but want to continue on a PS5® console, this is possible! Your save games will be transferable from PS4 consoles to PS5 consoles.

How do I access my bonus content? 
The physical editions of the game include a voucher with a code, which you can redeem on PlayStation™Store to gain access to your bonus content. If you purchased a digital version of Horizon Forbidden West, the bonus content is included when you can download the game. Please check your retailer receipt (physical or digital) for the code.

I did not pre-order the game, but can I still access the Nora Legacy Outfit and Spear pre-order bonuses?
No, the pre-order bonuses are not available after the pre-order period ends (which is when the game launches). 

What platforms can I play Horizon Forbidden West on? 
Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PS4 consoles and PS5 consoles.

What languages will Horizon Forbidden West be available in? 
Spoken (voice-overs from local talent): English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Japanese, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese.

Does Horizon Forbidden West include Multiplayer? 
No, Horizon Forbidden West is a single-player game only.

What is Machine Strike? 
Machine Strike is the board game played by inhabitants of the world of Horizon. It is played with carved wooden and metal pieces in the shapes of machines. Aloy will be introduced to Machine Strike in Horizon Forbidden West and she can challenge many different characters to a match.

How to import Horizon Forbidden West PS4 saved data to your PS5 console

Horizon Forbidden West supports PS4 console to PS5 console save transfers. Please follow the steps below to import your save game to your PS5 console: 

  1. On your PS4 console, go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management.
  2. Select Saved Data in System Storage.
  3. Insert a supported USB Storage Device and select Copy to USB Storage Device.
    If you're using the PlayStation Cloud, select Upload to Online Storage.
  4. Select saved data to copy.
    If you're using a USB storage device, turn off your PS4 console and remove the USB storage device.
  1. On your PS5 console, go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  2. Select Saved Data (PS4).

    If using a USB Drive, insert it into your PS5 console and select USB Drive > Copy to Console Storage and select the save file.

    If using PlayStation Cloud, select Cloud Storage > Download to Console Storage. Select the save file and then select Download.

  3. Launch Horizon Forbidden West. 
  4. When the title screen loads, select Import Game From Playstation®4. 
  5. Select your saved data to import. 
    When the import is complete, the saved data will automatically load.  

How to upgrade Horizon Forbidden West PS4 version to the PS5 version

Buy the digital version for PS4 consoles from PlayStation Store to get the digital version for PS5™ consoles at no extra cost. 

  1. Sign in to PlayStation™Network on your PS5 console.
  2. Find Horizon Forbidden West in PlayStation Store, or by Search, and go to the Game Hub for the PS5 game.
  3. Select the upgrade offer on the Game Hub and review the upgrade offer.
  4. Select Download.
    After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 game.

If you are purchasing, or already own, the PS4 disc version of this game you can get the PS5 digital version at no extra cost. 

To upgrade to the digital PS5 version, you will need a PS5 console with a disc drive. PS4 game discs can't be used with the PlayStation®5 Digital Edition.

  1. Sign in to PlayStation™Network on your PS5 console (or create an account). 
  2. Insert the Horizon Forbidden West PS4 game disc.
  3. Go to the Game Hub for Horizon Forbidden West.
  4. Select the upgrade offer on the Game Hub and review the upgrade offer.
  5. Select Download.
    After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 digital version of Horizon Forbidden West while the PS4 game disc is in your PS5 console. You will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game.

Trophies

A trophy didn’t unlock for me. What should I do? 

If you're having issues with certain trophies/achievements not unlocking, please make sure you meet all of the criteria for unlocking the trophy first.

If you’ve played Horizon Forbidden West on multiple PlayStation consoles, please make sure you've performed a trophy sync on all of them.

Please note: To perform a trophy sync on a PlayStation console, go to Trophies, press the options button and select Sync.

If the issue persists, please submit all relevant information via the online reporting form.

How do I submit a bug report?
You can submit all bug reports here. 

The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for our teams to investigate and potentially fix the issue you are reporting. Please use respectful language when reporting issues.

My game crashed, what do I do?
On your console, always select to Submit a Report when the game tells you to, and try to include as much information about what you were doing when the crash occurred. There is a comment box on the console that will let you do that, which will greatly help our teams find out what happened.

To help further on PS5 consoles, go to Users and Accounts > Privacy > Data you provide and select Full.

After reporting the crash, you should be able to close the game and restart from your previous save.

Accessibility

I have thalassophobia/fear of (deep) water, will I be able to skip underwater sections?
No, there are parts of the game where it will be necessary to go underwater.
