PlayStation®5

First, check the model number of your PS5® console.

Remove the covers when installing an M.2 SSD, attaching a disc drive, or when replacing your covers.

Find out how to attach a disc drive to your PlayStation®5 console. Please note, the disc drive is compatible only with PS5® consoles (CFI-2070/0000 model group).

1. Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI OUT port on the rear of the PS5® console.
2. Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI input on your display device.
3. Insert the power cable into the AC IN connector on the rear of the PS5 console.
4. Safely insert the power plug into a mains electrical outlet.

1. Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set up Internet Connection.
2. Select your connection type and enter the network security information.

Your PS5® console detects the capabilities of your TV and automatically selects the best available resolution. You can change your resolution using the PS5 console video output settings.

1. Go to Settings > Screen and Video.
2. Select Video Output.

From here, you can view your Video Output Information or change your video output settings.

PS5 Pro console 8K output requires a screen that supports 8K at 60Hz with Display Stream compression output. Please check with the manufacturer of your screen for more information.

1. Go to the home screen and select Settings > Accessories. 
2. Select Other Accessories to find the following settings for your keyboard:

Some languages have multiple input methods. 

Key Repeat (Delay)
Select how long it takes for a character to start repeating when you press and hold the corresponding key. 

Key Repeat (Rate)
Select how fast a character repeats when you press and hold the corresponding key.

• You can also configure these settings by selecting Accessories in the control centre.

Select items on your screen with ease by using your USB or Bluetooth® mouse with your PS5 console.

1. Go to Settings > Accessories.
   
2. Select Other Accessories to find the following settings for your mouse:

Type
Select left-handed or right-handed use.

Pointer Speed
Select how fast the pointer moves.

• You can also select Accessories from the control centre to change these settings.

• Use Share Screen to let other players in a party watch your gameplay in real-time as if you're all in the same room.
• With Share Play, your game screen appears on another player's screen. Both of you can enjoy the same game, regardless of who owns it. 
• To start Share Play, you need to be a PlayStation®Plus member.

You can transfer (copy) data from a PlayStation®4 console or another PlayStation®5 console to your PS5™ console.

Once installed in the PS5 console, M.2 SSD storage can be used to download, copy, and launch PS5 and PS4 games, as well as media apps. This allows you to increase the storage space available to you on your PS5 console. You can freely move games between the PS5 console’s storage, a connected USB extended storage device and the added M.2 SSD storage.

1. Go to your Game Library, highlight the data you want to move, press the options button, and then select Move Games and Apps.
   If you're using both M.2 SSD storage and USB extended storage, go to the Items You Can Move to USB Extended Storage tab. 
2. Select Move. 

To play your PS5 games, you need to copy game data from your USB extended storage back to your PS5 console storage. To do this, go to your games home and select Game Library. From the Your Collection tab, you can find the games that are only saved on your USB extended storage drive labelled USB Extended Storage. Highlight the game you want to copy back, press the options button, and then select Copy. You can play PS4 games directly from USB extended storage.

When you format a USB drive, any data saved on the drive is erased. Data erased this way cannot be recovered, so be careful and make sure you do not erase important data.

USB drives that you used as USB extended storage on your PS4™ console don’t need to be re-formatted.

1. Go to your Game Library, highlight the data you want to move, press the options button, and then select Move Games and Apps.
   If you're using both M.2 SSD storage and USB extended storage, go to the Movable to USB Extended Storage tab.
2. Select Move

• To play your PS5 games, you need to copy game data from your USB extended storage back to your PS5 console storage. To do this, go to your games home and select Game Library. From the Installed tab, you can find the games that are saved on your USB extended storage. Highlight the game you want to copy back, press the options button, and then select Copy to save it to your console storage.
• You can play PS4 games directly from USB extended storage.

You’ll need the following to use PS Remote Play:

• Android™ smartphone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad
  For details about system requirements, go to Google Play™ or the App Store.
• PS5™ console or PS4™ console
  Always update your console to the latest version of the system software.
• An account for PlayStation™Network
  Use the same account that you use for your console. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to create one first.
• High-speed internet connection
  As a standard, we recommend a high-speed connection with upload and download speeds of at least 5 Mbps. For best performance, we recommend a high-speed connection with upload and download speeds of at least 15 Mbps.
• You can connect a DualSense™ wireless controller or DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller to supported mobile devices for use with PS Remote Play. Please visit the guides below for more information.
• To use voice chat, you'll need a microphone, such as the built-in microphone on your mobile device.

Using the PS Remote Play app, you can control your PlayStation®5 console or PlayStation®4 console from a PC or Mac connected to a high-speed network. Check your PC or Mac meets the requirements and then follow the steps below to set up Remote Play.

With PlayStation Portal™ remote player, you can control your PlayStation®5 console remotely wherever you have a high-speed internet connection.

The minimum required connection speed for Remote Play is 5 Mbps for both upload and download. Follow the steps below to check that your connection meets these requirements.

1. Go to Settings > Sound.

2. Select Audio Output and adjust the settings.

1. Press the PS button to access the control centre, and then select Mic. 
2. Select one of the settings below to change input devices, mute and unmute your mic, and adjust your mic level.

1. Go to the home screen and select Settings > Accessibility.
2. Select an accessibility setting to enable or adjust it.

1. Go to your Games home and select PlayStation Store. 
2. Select a game to open the game hub.
3. Press the triangle button or select the side panel to view the accessibility features for the game.

Closed captions transcribe what's being spoken on the screen and provide text for audio cues when viewing certain content. 

1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Closed Captions. 
2. Turn on Display Closed Captions.

1. Turn off your console by holding the power button for three seconds.
2. The power indicator blinks for a few moments before turning off.
3. Once the console is off, press and hold the power button again.
4. Release it after you hear the second beep — one beep sounds when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
5. Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller. 

1. Restart PS5
   Ends Safe Mode and restarts the PS5 console normally.
2. Change Video Output
   Select Change Resolution or Change HDCP Mode. These options can be helpful when troubleshooting issues with blank screens. 
3. Repair Console Storage
   This option does not erase data. Try this option if your PS5 console does not start up properly or you are having storage issues.
4. Update System Software
   Allows you to update the PS5 system software via direct download or a USB storage drive.
5. Restore Default Settings
   Restores the PS5 console to the default factory settings. Restoring default settings won’t delete content on console storage such as games, apps, screenshots, video clips, and saved data. 
6. Clear Cache and Rebuild Database
   Select Clear System Software Cache if you’re experiencing system feature issues or performance drops.
   Select Rebuild Database to scan the drive and create a new database of all content on the system. This option is useful if you’re experiencing system feature issues or a game icon remains on Home after it has been deleted.
7. Reset PS5
   Deletes all user data and restores the PS5 console to its original state.
8. Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software)
   Deletes all user data and removes PS5 system software.

1. Go to the home screen on your PS5® console and select Settings > System > System Software > Reset Options.
2. Select Restore Default Settings.
   The settings affected by restoring default settings appear on screen. 
3. Select Restore.

Reinstalling the system software on your PS5 console will delete all of the data on your PS5 console. This process is often referred to as a "factory" reset, or "hard" reset.

If your PlayStation® console has been offline for a long time, or a system software update has failed, you may need to update the PlayStation 'firmware' manually in safe mode.
