Cloud Game Streaming Beta on PS Portal

Learn how to join Cloud Streaming (Beta) on PlayStation Portal™ remote player with PlayStation®Plus Premium. 

Requirements for Cloud Streaming (Beta) on PS Portal

  • A PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player.

  • An account for PlayStation™Network. Please note, Cloud Streaming (Beta) is not available for child accounts.

  • An active PlayStation Plus Premium membership.
    To stream games, you need a subscription for PlayStation Plus Premium. Please check whether Cloud Streaming is supported in your country or region.

  • Access to broadband internet.
    • To establish a cloud streaming session: requires minimum 5Mbps of upload and download speeds.
    • To stream at 720p: requires minimum 7 Mbps.
    • To stream at 1080p: requires minimum 13 Mbps.

How to set up Cloud Streaming (Beta) on PS Portal

You need to take the following steps before you can stream games on your PS Portal.

  1. From the home screen, open the quick menu, and then select Settings.
  2. Select Cloud Streaming (Beta).
  3. On the screen that appears, turn on Cloud Streaming (Beta).
    The lock screen appears. Press the PS button to unlock the lock screen and display the home screen. From the home screen, you can select between Remote Play or Cloud Streaming (Beta).
  • If you turn on Cloud Streaming (Beta), Home appears on the quick menu. Select this to return to the screen with the options to select Remote Play or Cloud Streaming (Beta).

How to play a streaming game on PS Portal

  1. On the home screen, select Stream from the Game Catalog.
  2. Select the game you want to play from the Game Catalog.
  3. Select Stream. The game starts when connected.

The following functions aren't available when streaming games on the PS Portal at this time.

  • Playing games that aren't in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog
  • Playing PS3™ or PS4® games
  • Buying add-ons during a game
  • Joining groups or parties through PlayStation Network, or inviting other players to join
  • Voice chatting or using messages through PlayStation Network*
  • Managing your friends*
  • Checking what trophies you can earn*
  • Taking captures
  • Broadcasting, or using Share Screen or Share Play while streaming games
  • Checking Game Help*
  • Competing in challenges
  • Verifying your age to play CERO-Z games for Japanese accounts**

* You may be able to voice chat or use messages if a game provides these features. You can also use the PS App to manage your friends, check trophies, voice chat, or use messages through PlayStation Network.

** Before you can stream CERO-Z games on your PS Portal, you first need to verify your age. To do so, acquire the game from your PS5 console, PS App, or the website for PS Store.

How to adjust maximum resolution for streaming

While streaming a game, the game's video resolution automatically adjusts depending on the quality of your internet connection. By following the steps below, you can adjust the highest resolution it can be set to when automatically adjusted.

Open the quick menu while streaming a game:

Select Max Resolution. Below are the available options.

  • 1080p
    Select this resolution if you have a stable internet connection (minimum 15 Mbps, recommended 23 Mbps). 
  • 720p
    Select this resolution if your connection isn't fast enough, or you're worried about stability while streaming (minimum 5 Mbps, recommended 13 Mbps).

To apply a new resolution, you need to restart the streaming game.

How to close a streaming game

  1. Open the quick menu. 
  2. Select Close Game.
  • When streaming games, if you sign in to your PS Portal with the same account that you use for your PS5 console, you can keep playing from where you left off on your console.
  • If you're inactive for a while, your streaming game closes. Remember to save your progress.

What games are available to play on Cloud Streaming (Beta) on PS Portal?

You can play select PS5 games from the Game Catalog available with PlayStation Plus Premium.* Availability of games will vary by country/region. To check out what games you can stream, see the Game Catalog on your PS Portal.
